Recreational Programs

The beginning of all sport starts here! Gymnastics, recognized by the International Olympic Committee as a foundation sport, provides young athletes with a head start into sports. Our Gymkids program is designed for all classes and develops fundamental sports skills and movement patterns; landings, static positions, mobility, rotations, swing, springs and object handling all progress. Through the development of these fundamental movement patterns children develop a full range of physical and motor abilities required by every sport (endurance, strength, power, flexibility, agility, balance, coordination and speed).

Please note that all members are subject to an annual $45.00 first child, 2nd child $43.00, 3rd + $39.00

Gymkids​ Level 2 (Ages 4-5 )

Gymkidz is a Gymnastics Program concentrating on Progressions and Fundamentals.  We teach skills on all apparatus (bars, floor, balance beam, tumble track, trampoline, vault). This program is for beginner gymnast.  Athletes will receive a achievement certificate at the end of each session. 

Freestyle Gymnastics (Ages 6 and older)  NEW 

55 Min/week  $65.10/month x 5, Fridays at 3:30-4:25pm

Lots of fun Gymnastics skills and obstacle courses.....playground fun inside :)

Gymkids 4-Advanced Recreational (Ages 7+) 85min/week $91.50 including  GST/month
Mondays or Wednesdays or Fridays3:30-5:00pm or 5:00-6:30pm or Saturdays 10-11:30am

Inroduction to the  level of Gymnastics. This class will help the young gymnasts (7 and older) to prepare for the next level.   The advanced recreational program is a further extension from our basic recreational classes. This class is geared for those who have an ability to perform more challenging/difficult skills and are interested in practicing for longer than only an hour per week

Gymkids 1-Kindergym, (Ages 3-4)

The Kindergym/Gymkids 1 program at Wayland Sports Gymnastics is called is a motor-coordination, physical education program with a strong emphasis on gymnastics. Not only will your son or daughter improve their loco-motor skill development (hopping, skipping, running, crawling, landing, swinging, leaping, etc) but they also will be introduced to preschool-early elementary social awareness skills (sharing, taking turns, courtesy, following rules, listening and directional skills, etc).  Students also get introduced to basic gymnastics skill development (climbing, rolling, hand support skills, balancing) as well as general physical fitness skills (catching, throwing, eye hand coordination, kicking). This is all accomplished through a positive, fun, and energetic learning environment. 

Rhythmics Gymnastics (Girls, ages 7-8 and 9-12)

Thursdays:5:30-6:25pm and 6:30-7:25pm $325.50 +GST or 5x $65.10

We are introducing a Rhythmic Gymnastics Class for girls 7 and older as of February 2020...

This recreational class is perfect for students who are interested in learning Rhythmic Gymnastics skills and possibly joining our future competitive or, performance Rhythmic Gymnastics teams. Girls between the ages 7 and older will be introduced to to this graceful sport in a variety of fun and creative ways. They will learn the gymnastics terminology, basics of ballet, stretching techniques, the beginning elements of Rhythmic Gymnastics and acrobatics, as well as how to improve their posture, grace, coordination, balance, and strength.
Each week we focus on a different apparatus (ball, hoop, rope, ribbon, and scarves) and teach the gymnasts the basic foundations of manipulation (throwing, rolling, and skipping) as well as gymnastics-specific skills and tricks.  Our recreational gymnasts perform at the year end show - for which they learn unique choeographies, mastering the skills they have learned throughout the session.
